Born on September 2, 1964, in Beirut, Lebanon, Keanu Charles Reeves experienced a tumultuous childhood with a frequently absent father and several relocations. He is the son of Reeves was born in Beirut, Lebanon, on September 2, 1964, the son of Patricia (née Taylor), a costume designer and performer, and Samuel Nowlin Reeves Jr. 

Reeves has English heritage on his mother´s side, with her coming from Essex, England. His father was born in Hawaii and is of Native Hawaiian, Chinese, English, Irish, and Portuguese descent. Reeves himself holds a Canadian citizenship. 

Reeve’s parents met when his mother was working in Beirut. When Reeves was three years old, the father left the family, and was then largely absent from his son’s life. Reeves’s last meeting with his faterh was on Kauai in Hawaii when Reeves was 13 years old. 

After the divorce, Reeves and his mother moved to Sydney, Australia, and then to New York City, U.S. In 1970, Patricia married Broaway and Hollywood director Paul Aaron, but the marriage was shortlived and the couple divorced the following year after moving to Toronto, Canada. Aaron and Reeves remained close, and Aaron would eventually recommend Reeves for a job at the Hedgerow Theatre in Pennsylvania. In 1976, Reeves mother married for a third time, and stayed married to rock music promoter Robert Miller until their divorce 1980.  

Reeves and his sisters grew up primarily in Toronto’s Yorkville neighbourhood. During his school years in Canada, Reeves enjoyed acting and playing ice hockey. When he was nine, he appeared on stage in Damn Yankees. He attended four different high schools and his dyslexia made him struggle acamedically. At the Etobicoke School of the Arts, he was expelled for being too rambunctious. During this time at De La Salle College, college preparatory institution. Reeves played a lot of ice hockey and was a successful goalkeeper. After leaving De La Salle College, Reeves attened Avondale Secondary Alternative School while also working as an actor. He dropped out of high school when he was 17, and moved to Los Angeles three years later after obtaining a green card through the U.S. stepfather.

Early film career 

Reeves’s entry into Hollywood was marked by his performance in the 1986 film, “Youngblood.” He then grew his reputation with the seminal “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure” in 1989. Despite early typecasting as the quintessential surfer dude, he proved his versatility with the Shakespearean drama “Much Ado about Nothing” and the action thriller “Speed.”
